FOOD DIARY – Let’s Try Something New

To kick start this new series, I want to share some food I tried over the Easter Long Weekend. This post is technically long overdue. I was suppose to post it last week but got too busy -.-

The main purpose of this series is actually to help myself in diversifying the food I intake when dining out. Confession time, I’m a creature of habit. When I find something I like, I tend to use that as my default choice. This is very evident in my meals, especially when I have’t researched prior to leaving the house. I fallback on the same restaurants and choose the same dishes in those restaurants. While there’s nothing wrong with eating what I like, but it’s definitely good to broaden my horizon and discover all the different food this city has to offer. Especially in a city as diverse and multicultural as Toronto, we definitely are not lacking in selections. So…by keeping a food diary, I hope I will make a conscious choice in trying new food.

Brunch Signature Burger and Fried Chicken Sandwich

 210 Ossington Ave, Toronto, Ontario

$10 – $15

The burgers here are very satisfying. Especially if consumed  after a few hours of physical exercise and the stomach is screaming hunger.  The portions are very large and everything is very fresh. It was very worth it to upgrade the regular fries to the sweet potato fries for the extra $2.

Steamed Bao – Braised Beef Cheek and Kimchi Fries

392 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario

$5 – $10

I know….the fries looks kind of disgusting. LOL.. But trust me, they are delicious! The spiciness from the kimchi mixed in with the crispiness of the fries made a surprisingly good combo. The steam buns are also super fresh and fluffy, great contrast to the crunchiness of the carrot and tenderness of the meat.

Quesadilla and Braised Beef Spaghetti

232 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario

$5 ~

Everything on the menu is $4.95! What a steal. Better yet, the food is very appetizing and the portion is perfect for a quick brunch. We will definitely be back to try the other options on the menu. This doesn’t count as cheating does it? While it’s at the same restaurant, I’ll technically be trying something new on the menu XD

That’s it for now. Definitely more to come.  See you in the next foodie post.
